State Health minister assures fincial assistance to JMCH

Jorhat, May 5: During a visit to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) on Tuesday, State Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr zrul Islam promised to fulfil all the requirements of the hospital as the hospital is yet to be provided adequate number of doctors and other medical staff, required fincial assistance and several other facilities for proper functioning.

The senior officers concerned apprised the minister about the requirements of the hospital which has been providing health-services to the people of Jorhat and its adjoining districts

According to some officials concerned, the hospital has to spend around Rs 7 lakh for cleaning and Rs 5 lakh for security service per month, besides the monthly expenditures of around Rs 5 lakh for generators and over Rs 14 lakh for laboratory needs.

Replying to the questions of media persons, the Health Minster said that his department would provide fincial assistance to the hospital as it was facing problems due to the lack of government fund.

Dr Islam also revealed a proposal to be submitted to the Central Government for setting up a well-equipped laboratory like Lahowal-based RMRC laboratory in Jorhat for the diagnosis of diseases like swine flu.
