SHILLONG, April 8: Meghalaya Police have sought the Special Branch of the Assam Police in profiling the twenty odd well armed ULFA militants belonging to the 108 (ULFA)battalion along with another fifty odd GNLA cadres who escaped from the training ground located in the thickly forested Durama Range located in between East and South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

The training ground is headed by a GNLA Area commander identified as Baichung. He is said to have been working in tandem with a self styled sergeant of the ULFA, who has been working in tandem with the elusive Manoj Rabha @Dristi Rakhowa.

The Media Officer of the Meghalaya Police, GHP Raju confirmed that the training camp located in the treacherous forest has been overrun, yet stop short from divulging the inquest on the ULFA-GNLA joint activities.

An Ulfa cadre, hailing from Kokrajhar, was found dead during the Counter insurgency operations carried out by the state police. The source said, “He (the deceased) is definitely an ULFA cadre and we are profiling the identities of the people who were under his command.” Claiming that the latest findings unveiled the strong relationships between the ULFA and the GNLA, the state or central agencies have failed to bust the linkmen.
