State soccer players shine in Students Olympic in Kathmandu

TANGLA, April 8: The Assam Soccer team boys representing India brought laurel to the State by winning gold by defeating Nepal 7-0 in the fil of the 4th Students’ Olympic Intertiol held in Kathmandu on April 5. This was informed by Dhaneswar Basumatary, official of the team here at Udalguri on Saturday. The team comprised of Nepoleon N. Daimari, Uttam Daimari, Ashik Boro,  Gopith Rabha, Biki Baglari, Julius Baglari, Abhijit Basumatari, Promod Kr. Daimari, Preyarjit Basumatari, Premanush Toppo, Emanuel Daimari, Ismail Daimari and Prabhudan Orang.  When the team arrived here at Udalguri railway station today, the players were accorded a rousing welcome by the people of Udalguri town. Principal of Udalguri College, Dr. Luke Daimari; Secretary of Udalguri District Sports Association ,Samuel Daimari; senior jourlist , Rewati Raman Sapkota among other distinguished persons feted the team with phualm gamocha and aroi. It is to be noted that selected students of seven countries mely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal participated in the Students’ Olympic intertiol organized by the Students’ Olympic Intertiol of Asia from April 2 to 5.
