State tableau gets rousing welcome from CM

Itagar, Feb 4: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu along with Deputy Chief Minister Chow Mein and Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin today gave a rousing welcome to the team of officials and artistes of the state Tableau that bagged the first prize in the Republic Day parade at New Delhi this year. Congratulating the artistes and the officials of Information and Public Relations for the stupendous feat, Khandu said the people of Aruchal Pradesh are indebted to them for bringing the state into tiol limelight, an official communiqué informed. “We are proud of you. Aruchal Pradesh today is in focus of the tion,” he said and also congratulated the state cultural team that bagged the third position in the cultural programme category.

Pointing that the Yak Dance – theme of the tableau – is a cultural heritage of the Monpas, who have preserved it through the ages and as a result the team could represent it in its purest form, Khandu appealed each and every community of the state to preserve their distinct cultural heritage with pride and showcase it to the world in its origil identity.

The chief minister appreciated the efforts put in by the IPR officials, who designed the tableau and went through strict selection process conducted by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and emerged winners.

 “This is a historical win for Aruchal Pradesh and we are grateful to you all,” he added. Earlier, Druba Bhattacharjee, IPR official and man behind the designing of the tableau, explained in the detail the selection process and the overwhelming surprise that engulfed the team on announcement of the results. “We were speechless. On behalf of the department I thank the artistes for their discipline and utter dedication to the work at hand for this success,” he said.

Khandu and Mein individually felicitated members of the Aruchal Tableau artistes and officials on the occasion. As a gesture of encouragement, the chief minister announced an amount of Rs 5 lakhs for the entire team for the historical achievement and making the state proud, the communiqué added.
