Station Master among two killed in head-on-collision between Auto Rickshaw & Bolero Pickup Van in Bokajan

Bokajan: At least two people including the Assistant Station Master of Bokajan Railway station and an auto-rickshaw driver was killed in a major accident over NH 39 at Balipathar in East Karbi Anglong on Thursday.

As reported, the Station Master Gyan Prasad and family including his wife Saroj Prasad and two sons Aman and Sahil were returning from Deopani Temple when the tragic incident unfolded. The auto-rickshaw in which the family was traveling unfortunately collided head-on with a Bolero Pick-Up killing the Station Master and the driver Bijay Choudhary at the spot.

The other three passengers sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Bokajan Civil Hospital for first aid. The condition of the three is said to be critical and have been referred to Dimapur for better medical aid.

Meanwhile, Police have arrested the driver of the Bolero Pick-up Dhon Chetry who was allegedly under influence of liquor.

The auto-rickshaw driver is a resident of Sukhanjan. He is survived by a wife and two minor aged sons.
