Steps taken to check illegal coal trading in Karbi Anglong

HAMREN, Feb 25: Illegal coal mining and trading of coal and others forest resources from Karbi Anglong district had seen going on since the last three or four years. The illegal trading of coal and other forest products in the district is still active in some forest ranges. A review meeting was held in Silchar on June 30, 2016 by  the Chief Minister on the matter of illegal coal mining, and trading of other forest products of Karbi Anglong district was also discussed in the review meeting. The Chief Minister of Assam directed the officials concerned to take immediate steps to stop all illegal trading of coal and forest products in the district. As per direction of the Chief Minister, the Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong has asked the district forest officials to take immediate necessary action to stop all such illegal activities. The forest head official has issued this notification to all forest range officials to take further steps and appropriate legal action against the illegal traders with the cooperation of the district administrative and district police to stop the illegal trading of coal and all forest products in Karbi Anglong. This joint initiative may help check smuggling of forest products from the district.
