STPI to set up incubation centre in Itagar

ITAGAR, Dec 30: The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) of the union communications & information technology ministry is setting up an incubation facility here to cater to IT industries and boost entrepreneurship and IT exports from the State. STPI senior director Devesh Tyagi and State IT department director Neelam Yapin Ta yesterday signed a MoU to this effect at New Delhi, an official communiqué informed here today.

The State government is providing a 12000 square feet built-up space along with 5 acres of land free of cost to set up the incubation centre. The facility will act as a resource centre for IT/ITES exporting units by offering infrastructural facilities like ready-to-use State-of-the-art incubation facilities, high-speed data communication with uninterrupted data connectivity, and other amenities required for development and export of software and services.

The facility will be operatiol within six months and create direct and indirect employment opportunities for the IT educated persons of the region.

STPI was established during the year 1991 by Ministry of Communications & IT, under Department of Electronics & IT, (The then Department of Electronics) Government of India with distinct focus for promotion of IT/ITeS exports from the country by providing single window regulatory services under STP & EHTP schemes, plug and play incubation facilities for the start-up companies and young entrepreneurs as well as HSDC services for a seamless access for offshore IT/ITeS exports.

STPI has been successfully delivering Statutory services to the IT/ITeS industries in most industry friendly environment and has earned the goodwill of the industry for its liberal style of functioning.

Working closely with all the stakeholders STPI has played a key role in creating Brand India and transforming the country as most preferred IT destition.

The STPI centre at Itagar is a step forward to facilitate and support the dymic entrepreneurs of the region to explore global opportunity with goals like, making the region one of the preferred IT destition, and attracting IT/ITES Units to the State, promoting the export of IT software and services from the region thus contributing to Gross tiol Exports, developing world-class incubation infrastructure for IT/ITES startups, providing Statutory Services of Government of India for Software Technology Park (STP) & Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) Scheme

The other goals also include providing HSDC and other value added services, stimulate to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for the IT educated masses of this region and development of overall economic scerio in the region, the communiqué added.
