Stray leopard caught at Khamun

DEMOW, Jan 3: Under Demow Circle office in the past three months in various villages of Bokota Mouza, leopards has created fear and panic among the villagers.  On Saturday night a leopard was caught in Khamun Halayoni gaon. In the past three months, in Bokota Mouza, Khamun, Halayoni, Bakharbaga, Mahkhowa Bari and Jutuliting villages, leopards ate up domestic animals and created panic among the people. Following the demand of the villagers, the Sivasagar forest office set up a cage two months ago at  Bakatiyal gaon, though the leopard was not caught in that place. The cage was set up two days ago in Halayoni gaon where the leopard was caught.  

 According to sources, forest department personnel rushed to Halayoni gaon and kept the leopard in their custody. It may be released in Sori Abhaypur or Kaziranga tiol Park.
