Stress laid on using POCSO Act against sexual offenders

Goalpara,  Jan 7: Mukhyamantrir Soli Soisabh,  Surakshita Sishu, Surakshita Axom, a project to bring awareness on child rights and child care and protection , was launched in Goalpara recently.

In this regard, a programme was held at Gandhi Bhavan where Additiol Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Mohen Saikia formally declared the beginning of the week-long programme by lighting a lamp.

A discussion on child right and child protection was held which was presided over by Mohen Saikia and where senior advocate Jiten Das,  Child Welfare Committee (CWC) chairperson Sofikul Ahmed, social activist Sanjay Hazarika and academician Dr. Abul Hussain highlighted the provisions of juvenile laws in India.

On the other hand, JVN Subramanym, Deputy Commissioner of Goalpara, attending as the chief guest, focused on child labour and other related issues and sought public cooperation to eradicate these evils. Nitul Gogoi, SP, attending as the distinguished guest, spoke especially on the POCSO Act and directed the police officers present to implement the Act against sexual offenders.
