SHILLONG, Jan 23: Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma assured the Indian High Commissioner the best of the facilities for the visitors and asked the Tourism department represented by David Nongrum, chairperson of MTDC who was part of the delegation to contact and coordite with all the tour operators including home-stay providers.  Dr. Sangma also requested for improving the reception facilities at Dawki Customs and Immigration Center for which the Indian High Commissioner agreed to take up with the concerned authorities.  Knowing the potential of Meghalaya, which has been validated by the recent independent surveys like Mint plus Harvard’s Institute for competitiveness and India Today, the High Commissioner offered to help for promoting tourism in the State of Meghalaya by organising events like road shows and special campaigns in Bangladesh.  Earlier, the Chief Minister received a warm welcome today at Dwaki-Tamabil border by the members of Sylhet Chamber of Commerce. The members then escorted the Chief Minister to their office in Sylhet where they organized an interactive session under the banner of ‘Exchange of Views’. Dr. Sangma is on a visit to Bangladesh to participate in the Investors Meet organized by the Prime Minister’s Office from Jan 24 to 25.
