Struggle and selfless service of Dr Ambedkar recalled

Hojai, April 16: The 124nd birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar was observed at Kheroni under the aegis of Kapili Development Welfare Society, an NGO, at D. BR Ambedkar Bhavan, Kheroni recently with a day-long programme. In this connection, in the morning the portrait of Dr Ambedkar garlanded by Prem Chand Ram, president of the NGO.

A semir was held in the Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan on the topic ‘The role of Dr BR Ambedkar in the establishment of social equality and democracy’ with Aditya Borman, Vice-principal of JNU School of Baithalangso as moderator.

Borman laid emphasis on the selfless service, struggle and dedication of Dr Ambedkar for the uplift of the untouchables, downtrodden and depressed people. The moderator of the semir in his concluding speech explained the laws ected by Dr Ambedkar while he was the Labour Minister during 1942-46. Dipankar Chauhan, a school teacher of Bogrighat M.E. School also delivered a short speech and sung a song. Certificate of Honour was distributed to Shivjee Chauhan and Bind Chauhan, who completed Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D) from Assam University recently in Hindi. Both are residents of Kheroni and Assistant Professor of Udali College of Lanka.

Jitendra Harijan, secretary of Kapili Development Welfare Society, offered vote of thanks and conducted the whole programme.
