Student 'deprived' of scholarship

Joysagar, May 6:  A student of Joysagar area of Sivasagar district has been allegedly deprived of receiving the Chief Minister’s Merit Scholarship which he obtained in 2013 when he successfully passed the LP merit examition which was conducted by the Elementary Education Department.

 Palash Jyoti Baruah of Joysagar and a student of 705 Joysagar Abhayasan Vidyalaya was deprived of the scholarship, allegedly by the school authorities along with the District Elementary Education department. Four years after the results were declared, the student has not yet received the scholarship money which was allotted by the State Government for meritorious students of the State to encourage them for further studies under a scheme introduced by the then Chief Minister of Assam.

 It is alleged that Palash Jyoti was deprived intentiolly by the school authorities and the District Elementary Education department authorities. The parents of this brilliant student have now sought the BJP-led government’s intervention and want justice.
