Students of Community Science should join civil services: Speaker

JORHAT, June 26: The multi-crore new building for College of Community Science was inaugurated by Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami on Tuesday. The Speaker was the chief guest of the function held on the occasion. Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, MP of Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency, Dr. Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, Vice-Chancellor of AAU, Arpan Saikia, Registrar of AAU, Dr. Satvinder Kaur, Dean of Community Science along with former Deans from Faculty of Community Science, and faculties, heads from Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fishery and Veterinary Science attended the hour-long inaugural ceremony held at the Dr MC Das memorial auditorium within the premises of the Assam Agricultural University (AAU) campus.

Hitendra Nath Goswami during his address called upon the students of Community Science to join the Assam Civil Services and become able administrators as the subject was very important to work as an administrator. This new building will enhance the academic atmosphere of the College of Community Science of this university. “I am happy to hear that the College of Community Science produced 1,042 graduates and 340 postgraduates and many of whom have occupied responsible positions in different public, administrative and private sectors along with five different departments. For a country like India to develop, a proper plan and programme is needed and students of Community Science will have a very important and positive role to play in the days to come,” said Hitendra Nath Goswami. Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa requested the faculty and research scholars to move out to the Krishi Vigyan Kendras and take up community teaching.
