Students pray to Saraswati for knowledge

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR, Feb 13: Educatiol institutions from primary level to higher stage of learning were buzzing and humming with students and their teachers for celebrating worship to Goddess of learning Saraswati today. From morning, preparations have been on foot at the altar with the image of goddess installed. Through vedic hymns and chants of mantras, the priest invoked goddess Saraswati. The teachers and students together offered prayers and took ‘anjali’ and the priest recited the vedic mantras and repeated by them thrice.

The campus inside took a holy turn, different from the usual academic exercises and the classes being taken. In schools, it was really pleasant to watch kids and grownups in their best of clean attires, lining up for offering prayers. By noon, the students, teachers and invitees as well as visitors took part of the ‘prasad’. It was a get together in its most serene and sacred atmosphere. It was the day away from learning to prayer to gain knowledge and wisdom.

Along with that in some educatiol institutions, cultural and creative activities were on display which included exhibitions on art. As directed by the HRD Ministry, the women cell of Cachar College organized exhibition to display various cooked food items as well as artistic designs on textiles and paintings. Participation was both by teachers and students. The celebration was not confined within the four walls of educatiol institutions. State and central government establishments, banks and even commercial houses as well as individual homes have also been part of the Saraswati puja celebration.
