Sudden Increase in The Water Level of Dikhow River Leads to Flood in Konwerpur of Sivasagar, Assam on Tuesday

GAURISAGAR: Due to sudden increase in the water level of the Dikhow river on Tuesday, flood wreaked havoc in many villages situated near the river embankment of greater Konwerpur area under Sivasagar revenue circle. Flood water has submerged Bagharchuk, Jaya bridge and Karigaon embankment. Konwerpur HS School, Konwerpur Boys’ MV School, No 14 Basic, Mahgiria, Bagharchuk and Barisuwa LP Schools, Krishna Kanta Handique Sankardev Sishu Niketan, various naamghars and No 1 Baliaghat Masjid are under water.

Flood water also swept away the Santipur ring bundh due to which Santipur HS has been adversely hit by flood. Bhaben Mohan, president of BJP Sivasagar District Committee and higher officials of Sivasagar district administration rushed to the flood-hit areas to take stock of the situation and set up a relief camp at Harmoti Garh LP School.
