Surrendered GNLA rebel mum on BDO abduction

SHILLONG: May 13: Surrendered GNLA commanders continued to mislead the police and public. The latest being Hedeo Ch Momin alias Kadrak who instructed his cadres to abduct the Block Development officer (BDO) of Chokpot in 2015.

As reported by The Sentinel, he was the kingpin in the abduction of the young BDO due to communication gap with his self-styled commander Sohan D Shira. Today, he said, “I was on leave when the abduction took place”, adding, “Sohan sent his own men to abduct the officer.”

It was under his command that the mother of four, Josbi Marak was pumped with five bullets by his men. The answer, when solicited was, “I was in the general camp at the time of occurrence”. The earlier surrendered GNLA senior cadre blamed it on Jang Jang, the slain area commander of the outfit.

Even as he feigned ignorance about abductions, killings and bomb attacks in the area that he held sway, Hedeo did admit that he served extortion notes to businessmen and contractors. A replication of words of the earlier surrendered for all their misdeeds, this newly surrendered leader blamed it on Sohan D Shira for all his acts.

The surrendered area Commander of West Garo Hills Chingmang alias Nun said that he has nothing drastic, even when his activities is known in Dadengre area before he gave up. They were 13 in numbers, 11 gave up, and one died in an encounter and another one is out of touch.

Philliport was also involved in the abduction and killing of a police havildar last year.

Interestingly, all the surrendered rebels showed their repentance but not at the expense that they should be forgiven.

These cadres, mostly semi literate (below class 10) have been creating terror in the five districts of Garo Hills till they filly gave up arms.
