Suspected brown sugar recovered from Down Saraighat Express in Guwahati, One Arrested

Guwahati: Government Railway Police (GRP) at around 1 pm on Thursday recovered at least 700 gram of suspected brown sugar from a general coach of down Saraighat Express train.

It is to be noted that the Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the suspected brown sugar from the possession of one identified as Arshad Ali (42) son of late Altaf Ali of Chamapara part 1 of Kalila police station under Murshidabad District in West Bengal.

Government Railway Police also informed that the accused Arshad Ali had boarded the train from Guwahati Railway Station and he was about to leave for Murshidabad in West Bengal with the same down Saraighat Express train today.

Meanwhile, GRP is investigating the matter further. It is also stated by the GRP that the suspected brown sugar was reportedly brought from Dispur area in Guwahati.

A case has been registered against the accused Arshad Ali (case vide no. 36/19) under section 21 (C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
