Suspected ganja seized at Guwahati Railway Station, women arrested

GUWAHATI, July 24: In a joint operation conducted at Guwahati railway station on Monday, the Government Railway Police (GRP), with the help of Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested five women and seized 20 kg of suspected ganja from their possession.

Later, they were identified as Musstt Mahira Bewa (48), Musstt Mafruza Bewa (52), Musstt Sagar Banu Bewa (38), Musstt Ajama Khatun (42) and Musstt Mumtaj Bibi (40). Notably, all of them hail from Mursidabad district of West Bengal. According to GRP source, they were arrested from the coach no S5 and S6 of the Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express.

The suspected ganja was brought from Dimapur and the gang was supposed to deliver some individual (s) somewhere at Malda. Meanwhile, a case (No. 203/18 U/S 20(B) NDPS Act) has been registered in this regard and further investigation is on.
