Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a distant dream in Nagaon town

NAGAON, July 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan throughout the country but this cleanliness drive has turned out to be a farce in Nagaon town where piles of garbage and dirt can be seen on both sides of roads. The obnoxious smell emanating from the garbage heap only adds to the unhygienic environment in the town.

A mere visit to the office building of the Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon will prove that there are no visible signs of the PM’s ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the town. In the office building of the Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon, one can find piles and piles of dust and garbage on the top floor and near the boundary wall. Conscious citizens have urged the authorities concerned to take up steps to ensure cleanliness in the town.
