SYCPA burns Himanta's effigy

DEMOW, June 19: The activists of Sangrami Yuba Chatra Parishad Asom (SYCPA), Demow Regiol Committee burnt the effigy of State Education Minister Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday in Demow Chariali at NH-37 road in protest against his recent controversial comment where he said that the Assamese medium students were not eligible to teach in Adarsha School.
The SYCPA Demow Regiol Committee activists shouted various slogans against the State Education Minister, the Chief Minister and the State Government. Moreover, before the declaration of the HSLC results, the State Education Minister had mocked the brilliant Assamese medium students regarding grace marks, alleged SYCPA Demow Regiol Committee.
The activists slammed the State Education Minister and said that he wanted to change the education system of Assam and wanted to give it to the private sector which would not be accepted. Under the leadership of Latu Bhattacharjee, president and Dipankar Gogoi, secretary, along with other members of SYCPA Demow Regiol Committee, the protest was carried out.
