Itagar, February 03: The East Siang women wing of Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) in their routine anti–drug drive intercepted one Mahmmad Husain Monday afternoon at Pasighat and seized drugs from his possession.

The women activists of the ABK seized 1.07 kg canbis from his possession and later handed him over to police. A case under NDPS Act was registered against him.

In another incident, the ABK workers raided a suspect house at Sawmill area near Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidylaya where 3 persons were found under the influence of canbis. The Anti Drug Cell of ABK WW Chairman Joya Tasung Moyong informed that they found several already used items from the possession of the addicts.

On their complaint, the police have detained all the three addicts for further investigation but no case has been registered yet owing to lack of full proof evidence.

Out of three detained, two are said to be Sumo drivers and another handyman.

“We strongly appeal the district administration to cancel the tour agency licenses who employ drivers with background of drug addiction,” Moyong added.
