Itanagar, July 21: Arunachal Pradesh Industries Minister Tamiyo Taga has exhorted the departmental officers and entrepreneurs to make concerted efforts to establish more small-scale industries (SSIs) in the state and generate employment.

Addressing an awareness programme-cum-workshop on North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS), held in a city hotel here on Friday, the Minister informed that under the Act East Policy of the NDA government at the Centre headed by Narendra Modi, an amount of Rs 60,000 crore has been allocated for the North East Industrial Development Scheme.

He also informed that there are more than 100 schemes under the industrial policy of the NDA government and for the implementation of such schemes the officers and entrepreneurs are required to be well trained. "Most of these are bank loan related schemes but some of the banking institutions are not so cooperative for which there is failure in implementation," he observed. "Our state is suitable for canes, bamboo and agro-based industries. We should encourage small scale industries and not for heavy industries," the minister stated.
