New Delhi, March 11: A group of Aam Aadmi Party legislators has written to party chief Arvind Kejriwal asking him to set an example by taking strict discipliry action against party leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav for their “anti-party activities”. The letter, which was leaked to the media on Wednesday, also demanded the removal of party co-founder Shanti Bhushan for speaking against Kejriwal. The letter to the Delhi chief minister, who is undergoing turopathy treatment in Bengaluru, said: “We request you to take strict discipliry action against these leaders. If it doesn’t happen there will be no discipline in the party and the party will finish.
“We hope that you will take our statement seriously and set an example by taking action against these leaders,” the two-page letter in Hindi said. It was not immediately known how many legislators have signed the letter. Emphasising that the move by two party leaders had completely sabotaged the trust of all the party-men, the letter said: “It is very hard even to think that when all the party members and volunteers were sweating really hard to ensure AAP’s win in Delhi assembly elections, a few leaders of the party - Yogendra Yadav, Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan were conspiring for party’s defeat in the elections.” “We used to respect these leaders and always considered them as elder brothers. We have never thought that these big leaders will ever do such an odious act,” the letter said. Citing several anti-party activities, including tarnishing the image of the party by the Bhushans and Yadav, the legislators said: “The three leaders conspired for the defeat of the party in the Delhi assembly elections.” The legislators said the party leader Prashant Bhushan used to say publicly that he wanted the AAP to loose Delhi assembly elections. “Prashant Bushan stopped the volunteers to come Delhi from other cities and states and asked them not to campaign for the party. Anjali Damania too had corroborated this news. Before Anjali Damania, Prashant had refused the AAP workers in Mysore from coming Delhi and taking part in the campaigning.” “AAP leaders had to go to Prashant and Shanti Bhushan’s house thrice to convince them. For hours they tried to pacify the annoyed leaders. Why Shanti Bhushan should not be sacked from the party after terming Arvind Kejriwal worst leader than Ajay Makan.” Questioning the credibility of the leaders, the legislators insisted that the party should not bear such traitors as their acts have betrayed thousands of workers of the party who had left their jobs for the sake of changing the tion. “Instead of setting up the good examples to inspire the party workers, these leaders performed a negative job. We request you to take strict administrative action against these leaders to ensure justice and maintain a balance in the party,” the letter said. (IANS)
