ITANAGAR: The statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the tallest in the world, which is going to be unveiled in Gujarat by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31 this year, is a befitting tribute to the illustrious freedom fighter and the unifier of independent India, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr. B D Mishra said here on Monday.

A 13-member delegation comprising Minister, Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly and senior bureaucrats from Gujarat, led by Minister of State Ishwarsinh Thakorbhai Patel, called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan and requested him to participate jarat, Shri Patel requested the Governor to participate in the unveiling of 182 meter height statue of Sardar Patel, the ‘State of Unity’ this month.

Interacting with the delegation, the Governor recalled the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in saving Kashmir from being overrun by the Pakistan regulars and non-regulars.

“Because of the political acumen and practical wisdom of Sardar Patel, even the most bellicose princely States also joined the Indian union,” the governor said. Felicitating the Gujarati delegation, the Governor expressed his hope that this cordial invitation of the government of Gujarat will go a long way in strengthening the bond between the people of Easternmost part of India and the Western most part of the nation, a Raj Bhawan communiqué informed.
