Tangla College bids farewell to Sahitya Akademi awardee

TANGLA, June 22: “Students are the force of my life and teaching is a responsible profession,” said Arupa Patangia Kalita. Tangla College fraternity bid farewell to her.
Arupa Patangia Kalita was born in 1956 and studied in Golaghat Mission Girls’ High School and Debraj Roy College. She did her MA in Gauhati University. She also pursued her PhD. from Gauhati University on Pearls S. Bucks Women Characters. Her novels and short stories have been translated into many languages. Her writings have also been included in the syllabus of many colleges and universities. She has received many awards including the Sahitya Akademi award and penned 19 books of poetry and short stories. Rabindra Kr. Sarmah is assigned as the new Head of the Department of English, Tangla College.
