Taxi Welfare Association organizes ‘Driver’s Day’

SHILLONG, Feb 12: The East Khasi Hills Local Taxi Welfare Association (EKHTLWA) on Sunday organised the first ever ‘Driver’s Day’ celebration at Mawlai-Mawiong Taxi Stand, Iweduh Shillong.

The celebration was graced by former cabinet Minister AL Hek as Chief Guest who officially iugurated the function which will be held every year on February 12.

Speaking at the function, Hek said, “Commercial drivers have a huge responsibility towards the society by providing the needs of commuters even during time of sickness, therefore I feel there is a need to celebrate this day every year.”

The function was also attended by N Syiem, SP City (Traffic), Peter A Dohkrut president Shillong Law College Student’s Association (SLCSA), Disparsing Rani RTI activist, members of EKHTLWA beside others.
