Guwahati, August 8:Vivekanda Kendra Shiksha Prasar Vibhag, the administrative body for Vivekanda Kendra Vidyalayas, under Vivekanda Kendra Kanyakumari located in Assam and galand organized a three-day Teacher’s Orientation Camp in Vivekanda Kendra Vidyalaya (NEEPCO), Umrangso recently.
Altogether 135 participants participated in the camp. The objective of the camp was to sensitize the serving teachers with the organizatiol aspect, capacity building and continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation Modules, technological dimensions in classroom situations. The iugural day started with a band display by the 38 Assam Rifles, Arjun Company, Umrangso. Dr. Dhanjay Parashuram Ghawat, Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao, was the chief guest. He underlined the role of teachers in addition to the parents in preparing a child to build a better society. He also urged the teachers not to keep their roles confined to classrooms only but also be role models and guides to members of public.
Sibth Barman, social worker and distinguished guest in the iugural programme, laid emphasis on spirituality which once formed the core of Society. The resource persons for the TOC were Vivek Ponkshe, Deputy Secretary, Education Wing, J Probodhini, Pune; S.P. Verma, Director, Vidya Institute of Training and Development, Meerut, D. Bhanudas, All India General Secretary, Vivekanda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dr. Arzuman Ara, Assistant Professor, English and Foreign Language University, Shillong. Amarendra Barua, Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao, was the chief guest for the valedictory programme. He hoped that the concepts given in the TOC would benefit the participants.
