Dibrugarh: Saras 2018, a platform for the rural artisans across the country to showcase their handiwork and skills, started here at Chowkidinghee Field on Friday. Organised by Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM), the fair would span over 10 days, culminating on November 18.

Various cultural programmes and workshops have been scheduled to dot the event. A seminar on scientific management of livestock – dairy, piggery, goatery and poultry – has been slated for November 10 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and another workshop on food and nutrition, sanitation and hygiene for women and adolescent girls is expected to be held on November 15 during the same time.

One more seminar on the importance of SHG Bank Credit and Social Security Schemes has been scheduled for November 17. Besides, an art competition has also been kept for the kids on November 11. More than 100 stalls have been put up to display the products made by SHGs from various parts of India. The second leg of the event will be held in Guwahati from December 15 to December 26.
