DHEMAJI, Dec 30: Aruchal police of Likabali Police station crossed Likabali 22 No Assam police battalion main camp and Likabali’s main patrolling point and started beating the sand mine workers working inside Assam border and two of them were lifted.

Daily wage laborures of Assam working at sand mines were beaten up by Aruchal police trespassing Assam border on December 28. Two of them were lifted and later on released at the interference of Assam police.

In the year 2007 Siang and Dhemaji district administration took the border dispute issue seriously and a conducive environment was created. But the Aruchal police very often violated the  rules of peace process and create unwanted situation throughout the border line starting from Gogamukh to Joi.

Sometimes they came inside Assam and harvested the standing crops illegally creating tension among the dwellers of Assam-Aruchal border.

It is a matter of serious concern but the Government of Assam does not seem serious in solving the problem permanently. Now once again the border situation is worsening.

Dhemaji district administration interfered the matter and it became normal for some time and again when they get chance they intrude and create an unpleasant situation in the border

areas. The question raised by the people how the Aruchal police dare to do such illegal activities and lifted the innocent workers Khargeswar Patir and Manjyoti Doley to the Likabali police station without the support of the Aruchal Government.

However later Dhemaji Police with OC of Silapathar police station went to Likabali and released the workers. How a group of seven Aruchal police intruded without the support of the Police administration of Aruchal Pradesh, people questioned.

The people of Assam living in the entire border area of Aruchal Pradesh are always suffering from fear psychosis. Now though the situation at likabali is seen normal but the inner tension still prevails.
