GAON, February 20: Tension prevailed at Dobaka after an HSLC candidate allegedly eloped with a boy on Tuesday, triggering demonstrations by protestors who demanded action from the police. As people took to the streets, police had to open lathi charge and fire shots in the air to control the situation. The irate mob not only blocked the roads but also demolished shops. Police sources said the Class X standard girl, a Muslim, eloped with a boy of another community, triggering the unrest.
