Tension continues in Batadrava, mob damages house of prime rape accused

Batadrava/Pathsala, March 24: Tension continued to prevail in Batadrava, gaon on Saturday as thousands of local people attacked the house of Jakir Hussain, the prime accused in the gang rape and murder of a Class V student.
People gathered outside the house of the accused and started vandalizing the house. Thousands of people, including school students, also staged road blockade at gaon-Dhing road in Borduwa and demanded immediate arrest of the prime accused and stringent punishment against all of the accused.
Three miscreants had allegedly gang-raped a 13-year old girl at Lalungaon, gaon on Friday afternoon and later set her on fire with kerosene. Although the victim was rushed to the gaon BP Civil Hospital, 90 per cent of her body had sustained burn injuries and later she died on her way to GMCH on Friday late night.
Meanwhile, two of the accused minors have been apprehended by gaon Police but prime accused Jakir Hussain is still absconding. 
MLA of Batadrava, Angoorlata Deka and various organizations gaon units of AASU, AJYCP, ABVP and Hindu Yuva Satra Parishad have strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the prime accused and stern punishment for all the culprits.
Meanwhile, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) unit of Bajali College at Pathsala held a strong silent protest in front of Bajali College on Saturday in protest against serial killings and rape cases in the State. The protesters also demanded promulgation of strict law against rapists. 
Rakesh Talukdar, student leader, said, “Crime against women occurs every day in India, women are not safe whether in their homes or public places. In view of increasing number of crimes against women, there should be strict laws in place too.”
