Tension in Baghjan TE

Doomdooma, April 4: There was tension in Baghjan TE in the aftermath of attack on night chowkidars by a group of green leaf thieves on Tuesday night when the chowkidars on duty resisted them from stealing tea leaves. An FIR was lodged in Baghjan Police station by Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), Baghjan TE unit on Wednesday.  As per the FIR, a group of 30 thieves were seen plucking tea leaves clandestinely in Section No.32 of the garden. When the night chowkidars on duty, eight in number, resisted them from plucking, the thieves attacked them with sharp weapons as well as pelted stones at them. As a result, three of the night chowkidars, mely And Induar, Hussain Barik and Sanjay were gravely injured and had to be sent to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for treatment. One truck was also badly damaged.
As soon as the news of attack on chowkidars spread like wildfire, the tea workers became infuriated and they came out in large numbers to gherao the nearby Baghjan Police Station. In the FIR, the ACMS Baghjan TE unit demanded that the culprits should be caught within 24 hours, else they would resort to agitation programmes like road blockade of tiol highway.
