Biswanath Chariali: Tension prevailed at Dirring Tea Estate under Biswanath Chariali police station in Biswanath district on Monday morning when a labourer died due to the alleged negligence of the medical staff in the tea garden.

Rajen Rautia fell sick and he was allegedly deprived of proper medical treatment by the management of the tea garden on Sunday. As a result, the person died on Monday. The labourers were instigated and gheraoed the management and stopped working. They alleged that there was no medical facility available in the garden though they had been paying for this and a good number of labourers had died on earlier occasions too.

The police arrived at the situation after getting information. The situation is under control now, police claimed. Meanwhile, the labourers alleged that the management of the tea garden had not been providing them even the basic amenities which led to Monday’s unrest.
