Tension prevails  at Singri TE

DHEKIAJULI, April 5: The situation at Singri Tea Estate further worsened after the death of a child of line no. 20 of Singri TE on Thursday. Sources said Kul Bowri, daughter of Bhakti Bowri, was brought to Singri Tea Estate Health Centre for treatment. A pharmacist of the health centre examined the girl and declared her dead. On being convinced with the declaration of the pharmacist, the guardians and other tea garden labourers brought the body home. At the residence of Bhakti Bowri, the neighbours who had gathered there found that the child was still alive. Immediately, they called the 108 ambulance service and took the girl to Dhekiajuli Monobar th Civil Hospital.

On their way to Dhekiajuli Civil Hospital, the paramedical staff in the ambulance declared that the child had died on the way. Then the girl's guardians brought her body to Singri Tea Estate. The tea garden workers of Singri TE were infuriated at the negligence of the pharmacist of Singri Tea Estate Health Centre and gheraoed the office of the Singri Tea Estate mager. The DSP, Sonitpur district, Numal Mahatu and circle officer of Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle, Sabyasachi Kashyap arrived at the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. The Singri tea garden labour bodies alleged that due to the negligence, the child lost her life. Tight security arrangement has been made by the local administration.
