Tension prevails over missing youth

Silchar, Jan 18: Nur Hussain Laskar (25), son of late Sorof Uddin Laskar and a resident of Lalpani Part II, Bagkhal, has been missing from Jiribam van stand near Jiri Bridge since January 9. Nur is a van driver by profession. On January 9, a group of unknown people hired his van bearing No AS 11 CC 2811 at about 9.30 in the morning from Jiribam van stand for going to Noney, Manipur. People of Jiri Valley area lodged a missing FIR at Jiribam police station vide Jiribam PS FIR No 03 (01) 2018 JBM – PS u/s 382/34 IPC. Later, it was learnt that the said van had been recovered by Mayang Imphal PS and kept under their safe custody.

 People have intimated this matter to the higher authorities of the district of Cachar. Till now, Nur has not been found. They have also submitted a memorandum addressed to the SDO (Civil) Lakhipur, for immediate recovery of the victim along with his vehicle from the state of Manipur. Jiribam police has so far arrested two suspects, Kutub Uddin and Abul Hussain, in this case. It was mentioned in the memorandum that they would block NH 37 at Jirighat near Jiri Bridge on Wednesday from 12 noon onwards. But Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, ADC J R Lalsim, in-charge SDO (Civil), Lakhipur, officials of district and police administration of Cachar assured them that immediate steps would be taken to recover Nur and his van.

 These words of assurance stopped them from blocking the road. Officials and authorities concerned are leaving no stone unturned to recover Nur and also to b the culprits. People have been urged upon by both the administrations to maintain peace and law and order situation. Gaurav Kumar Aggarwal, SDPO, Lakhipur, inspector Anwar Hussain Choudhury, office in-charge, Lakhipur PS and Sanjib Das, office in-charge, Jirighat PS are policing the area every now and then.
