Termition of Registrar of BU as per rule: BU Vice-Chancellor

KOKRAJHAR, July 13: Three days after the students of the Bodoland University (BU) Students’ Union staged protest on July 10 and July 12 in front of the university demanding the retaining of Registrar Dr. Shekar Brahma and Director of College and University Development Council (CUDC) Dr. Dinoth Basumatary till 62 years, the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, Prof. Hemanta Kr. Baruah has clarified that the termition was made on the basis of rules of the varsity. He said the Governor of Assam, Banwarilal Purohit, who is also Chancellor of Bodoland University, had sent a termition letter to Dr. Sekhar Brahma, Registrar of Bodoland University and Dr. Dith Basumatary, Director of College and University Development Council, BU, for their posts whereas their tenure has come to an end or both of them have crossed 60 years of age.

Briefing media persons at his office chamber on Thursday, the Vice-Chancellor of BU, Prof. Hemanta Kumar Baruah said as per the termition letter received from the Chancellor Banwarilal Purohit, Registrar of BU, Dr. Sekhar Brahma and Director, CUDC, Dr. Dith Basumatary had been termited as they had crossed 60 years of age.

He said, “I got a termition letter from the Chancellor Banwarilal Purohit on July 7 which was issued on July 5, and directed Dr. Prahlad Basumatary, Deputy Registrar, Bodoland University to take over charge as the Registrar in-charge from Dr. Shekar Brahma, Registrar of Bodoland University, with immediate effect and appointment has been given to Dr. Prahlad Basumatary as Registrar of the university.”
