Terror Camp of NSCN (IM) Destroyed by Assam Rifles in Nagaland

Kohima: A temporary terror camp of the banned outfit National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) NSCN (IM) by the Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles at New Ngaolong in Peren district on Nagaland on Monday.

A press communiqué from the Assam Rifles informed that the NSCN (IM) cadres during the surprise attack by the armed personnel abandoned the camp and fled to nearby jungle taking the cover of the dense flora.

The communiqué further informed that a special action team after acting on a tip-off about the presence of armed NSCN (IM) cadres in the area, the Assam Rifles troopers initiated a combing operation since August 7 last. The action team found the presence of a group of 10 to 15 NSCN (IM) cadres in the temporary make-shift camp.

The release also stated that when the Assam Rifles troopers reached the camp and asked the NSCN (IM) cadres to surrender in a peaceful manner as per the terms of ceasefire ground rules, the cadres retaliated back with a heavy gunfire from automatic assault rifles on the Assam Rifles Jawans.

The NSCN (IM) cadres taking the advantage of the confusion, fled the camp and took to the cover of the thick jungle. The camp was later destroyed by the Assam Rifles troopers.
