TET qualified candidates on indefinite hunger strike

Silchar, August 6: Specific medium lower primary TET qualified unemployed candidates under the banner of All Assam Specific Medium Lower Primary Qualified Unemployment Committee while expressing their gratitude to the Government of Assam for absorbing a substantial number of them in lower primary schools as assistant teachers, those still without job or assignment have no other altertive then to sit for indefinite hunger strike beginning from today. Though they have qualified as TET teachers in 2014, they are still groping in the dark and are uncertain about their future.

 The hunger strike under taken by them is a sort of ultimatum served on the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar for his attention and moving the authorities concerned for their absorption. It is through their qualifications that they want to devote themselves to be cause of education and the development of society. For the last two years, they have been clamouring for their appointment and knocking the doors of authorities concerned but with no positive result.

 Drawing the attention of the Deputy Commissioner through this memorandum in the form of an ultimatum, the TET Qualified Unemployment Committee urges upon him to take immediate steps for their employment and not to conduct any further examitions until all qualified candidates are taken in. In order to make the process of their employment smooth and easy within time bound plan, it has been suggested for district wise advertisement and employment. Further, class wise teacher should be taken in for ensuing and implementing the right to education and for qualitative development of education.

The Unemployment Committee has pointed out that they have moved the office of the Chief Minister, Sarva Sikhsa Abhiyan Mission, MPs and MLAs on the issue. But quite unfortutely, no clear assurance from any one of them for their employment has been received. In the prevailing circumstances, TET qualified unemployed teacher have decided to continue with their hunger strike till the declaration of any official commitment.

They expect that the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar realizing their mental and pecuniary condition would take necessary steps for addressing their grievances. More than one hundred unemployed TET qualified candidates joined the indefinite hunger strike. The fast unto death strike was undertaken by them at the footstep of Khudiram Bose statue along the Club Road, close to the DC establishment.
