TET-qualified teachers cry foul over appointment ‘anomaly’ in BTAD

TANGLA: Candidates applying for the post of assistant teachers in upper primary schools under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in the BTAD region have alleged that they have been discriminated against and a partial attitude has been adopted towards the professionally qualified candidates.

Alleging partiality in the screening of teachers for the posts under SSA, a group of deprived candidates, on condition of anonymity, told this correspondent that even though they had the required qualification like B.Ed. for the SSA posts of assistant teachers and had four years teaching experience in upper primary schools in the BTAD region, they were not selected.

The deprived candidates further alleged that earlier the guidelines for teacher’s appointment in upper primary schools was that those candidates having high professional degrees like B.Ed. degree, did not need extra qualifications like D.L.Ed. which is considered a must for appointment in lower primary schools. The candidates further added that if they were made scapegoats, they might move the court seeking justice.
