TET qualified teachers demand regularization of posts

KOKRAJHAR, January 12: The All BTC Contractual TET qualified teachers staged a 72 hour sit-in starting from Monday morning at Rasmela field in Kokrajhar in support of various demands.

At the time of Magh Bihu celebration, the TET qualified teachers of BTC demanded regularization of their posts. Hundreds of TET qualified teachers of BTC region showing banner, placards, and festoons staged the hunger strike. The teachers were irked over the BTC administration for not take any initiative for the TET qualified teachers who were working in schools on contractual basis, without regularization.

Pulindra Barman, president of the association, said that the TET qualified teachers of BTC covering four districts had been demanding since a long in a democratic way but the BTC education department was not considering their legal demands for which they were compelled to sit for a 72-hour hunger strike on the occasion of Magh Bihu celebration.

The All BTAD Contractual TET qualified Teachers’ Association also demanded to regularize the 2,125 posts, provide salary as per ROP-2010 and introduce new pension scheme to the all TET qualified teachers. The teachers also appealed to BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary to fulfil their legal demands, otherwise they would take up massive democratic agitation programme.

A memorandum was submitted by the All BTC Contractual TET qualified Teachers’ Association to the Director of Education BTC, Kokrajhar, Assam.
