Tezpur gets its first Army Skill Training Centre

GUWAHATI, Aug 1: Annupma Bedi, the Zol President of Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) 4 Corps on Tuesday iugurated Tezpur’s first ever Army Skill Training Centre (ASTC), as part of the partnership between Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Ministry of Defence. The Centre, located within the Solmara Army Garrison in Tezpur, has been set up to eble the skill training and development of both serving and ex-servicemen army wivesand wards.
As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Gajraj Corps and its Training Partner Orion Edutech Pvt. Ltd., affiliated to the tiol Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), this fully equipped Centre shall offer courses for two job roles mely Assistant Beauty Therapist and Sewing Machine Operator. 
Annupma Bedi lauded the efforts of team of officers, JCOs & jawans along-with the training partner Orion Edutech Pvt. Ltd. for setting up this centre in a short time frame. She expressed her confidence that the venture will be able to enhance the lives of the army wives and wards while contributing to the Government’s ‘Skill India’ campaign. The project will make all trainees eligible for being sponsored under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yoj (PMKVY) scheme.
Trainees on successful completion of these course will get NSDC certification and the training partner will make necessary endeavour to ensure that they are provided all necessary assistance in getting suitably placed in various organisations for employment or establishing themselves as entrepreneurs. This was stated in a press release.
