Tezpur United upset Guwahati FC

GUWAHATI, June 17: Guwahati FC suffered shock defeat against Tezpur United in the Assam State Premier League soccer tourment match held at the Nehru stadium here today. Tezpur United, who came in the city with just four points in their kitty, upset the local outfit by 1-2. However Guwahati FC should blame themselves for the defeat as the side missed series of opportunities. Tezpur United played last 20 minutes of the game with 10 men after their striker Francis Onyeama received marching order getting second yellow card in the match but local team failed to take any advantage of it. Guwahati FC started the game nicely and took the lead in the very first minutes of the game through N D Opara. Amit Tanti scored the equalizer in the 23 rd minutes with a brilliant shot. Tezpur got the winning goal in the 39th minutes through Babul Bhuiya. Meanwhile K A Morning Star kept intact their winning streak and register 2-1 win against Triyanjyoti FC at Dibrugarh today. Orok Orok Essein scored both the goals for the winner while Chayaram Basumatary reduced one for local outfit. In another game at Gossaigaon , local team Global FC beat Udalguri FC by 1-0. Mithinga Brahma scored the only goal of the match in the 84th minutes. The other game of the day, held at Tinsukia, Barekuri Fc shared point with Moran Town club after the game ended 1-1 draw.
