Hanoi, March 4: The Vietmese Football Federation (VFF) has signed a deal with Nguyen Huu Thang to coach its tiol team.
Thang, born in 1971, replaces Japanese Toshiya Miura whose contract was termited late January following Vietm’s poor performance at the 2016 AFC U23 Championship in Qatar.
For a two-year tenure, Thang will guide Vietm in two qualifiers of the World Cup 2018, first against Chinese Taipei on March 24, then Iraq on March 29, it was announced here on Thursday.
The Vietmese players will gather in Hanoi on March 14 to tune up for the qualifiers. Thang who started working as head coach of a Vietmese club since 2009, was assessed as one of the best players of the Vietmese tiol team during the 1990s, the VFF said on its website. IANS
