The Eastern Assam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Seeks Administrative and Infrastructural Changes in Dibrugarh, Assam

Dibrugarh, July 31: The Eastern Assam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TEACCI) recently wrote to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal seeking certain administrative and infrastructural changes to be made in the district. In what the organization believes will benefit the entire Eastern Assam in multiple ways, and also help the people of the State of Arunachal Pradesh, TEACCI has proposed certain changes in light of the fact that Dibrugarh is already a major industrial centre of Assam and is at the vanguard of national tea production, besides going to be connected with the Northern Bank of the Brahmaputra via the Bogibeel Bridge very soon.

Among the most prominent changes is the proposal to set up a mini secretariat here which will save the time and money of people by helping them get their share of administrative work done in Dibrugarh itself rather than travelling all the way to Guwahati. The suggestions of carving a Dibrugarh Urban subdivision out of the existing Dibrugarh subdivision, and establishing a permanent bench of the Gauhati High Court here were also forwarded to Sonowal.

The TEACCI also urged the government to consider plans to build a world-class Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) alongside the by-pass, while using the present ASTC bus stand at Chowkidinghee for official and repairing purposes.
