The Final National Register of Citizens Must Exclude Doubtful Citizens, Says Anup Chetia

GUWAHATI: Talking to reporters here on Monday, Indigenous Forum, Assam (IFA) chief convener Anup Chetia stressed that the State’s NRC authority must step up measures to exclude doubtful citizens from the final NRC. At the same time, Chetia appealed to the authority to include all the genuine and indigenous people of the State in the NRC. Expressing concern over the exclusion of 40 lakh citizens’ name from the recently published draft NRC, Chetia observed that while genuine citizens’ names are excluded, at the same time, numbers of doubtful citizens’ names are also included in the draft NRC which need serious evaluation and critical scrutiny.
