The Jersey Controversy

Team India during the current ICC World Cup being played in England opted to wear a different jersey against the hosts in one of their league encounters. The new-look jersey had saffron colour and this change of colour offended some so-called secularists from the Congress and the PDP. Saffron is one of the colours of our the Tricolour. Saffron colour indicates sacrifice and forefathers of the nation have valued sacrifice like anything. But people like former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti and a few from the ailing Congress had some problems with the saffron colour. They blamed the BJP alleging that the ruling party was out to saffronize the cricket team. However, the entire Indian team was all praise for the new-look jersey.

India lost the match against England and a section jump to call that new jersey was bad omen for the team. Before that particular match Team India won five matches out of six matches played (one was abandoned), but we the common people never heard any applause from the ‘new-breed cricket lovers’. After their rout in the last elections these so-called secularists are opting to anything to keep their flags flying.
