Theatre and drama academy iugurated in Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur, August 3: Lakhimpur Theatre and Drama Academy was iugurated in North Lakhimpur on Wednesday.

The academy will provide training to the students who are passiote about theatre and drama. The lamps were lit by Prasanta Kr. Modok, a prominent jourlist of North Lakhimpur and ran Sarmah, actor and famous dramatist. Debendra Kr. Pandey, the president of North Lakhimpur Press Club, and Mintu Sarmah, editor of Niytan Chinton magazine, Diploma Borodoi, a prominent actress, Kalayani Chakraborty Gogoi, prominent poet and editor of Sorohiwoti magazine, Mukut Gogoi poet and social activist, Monorojan Das, dramatist, Raju Singho of MASS, Sambhu Singho of RSS and Susanta Bhuyan, social activist were present during the iuguration programme as guests of honor along with the many students and parents.

The classes will be conducted in the theatre and drama academy on Saturdays and Sundays every week and Niranjan Saikia will train and guide the students as mentor.

“We do need such an academy in our society to preserve the Assamese theatre and drama. We really appreciate that such an initiative has been taken,” said a local person.
