Theft attempt averted, three miscreants bbed

Mangaldai, Dec 20 : A major incident of theft and loot was averted in Mangaldai bazar on Monday night due to the alertness of the night patrolling party of Mangaldai Police Station.

According to report, at around 2 am a gang of three to four miscreants came in a car and tried to break into a mobile handset selling business unit located near SBI main branch along the LNB road of the town. However, the night patrolling party of police and home guard spotted them and maged to b three miscreants after a successful chase.

One Indica vehicle bearing registration AS 01W 6278 and several iron tools suspected to be used for the theft were recovered from their possession. Two of the miscreants hail from areas under Orang police station in Udalguri district while the other is from the Silbori outpost area under Dalgaon PS of Darrang. Police has started search for the other absconding members of the notorious gang.
