Theft in Sivasagar town, burglars decamp with cash, jewellery

SIVASAGAR, April 28: Discrimiting burglars ransacked two apartments, including senior jourlist Atanu Borah’s apartment, and escaped with cash and jewellery near the ASTC bus stand in Sivasagar town on Thursday morning at about 11 am. As per reports, both robberies took place on the second floor of two attached rented flats of the same apartment. The burglars entered into the flats of both Atanu Borah and Satyen Borah by breaking the door locks.

According to Purobi Borah, wife of Atanu Bora, her husband was out of home, while she was busy at her gym centre and the owner of the other flat was also out at the time of the robbery. She also said that she went up to their flat for some reason and found that the door locks were broken.  When she got into the rooms she found that two steel almirahs had been broken and cash amounting to Rs 10,000 and jewellery had been looted by burglars.

Burglars had also broken the steel almirah in the other attached flat, but were uble to steal anything as they had moved into the flat a few days back and had not brought in much furniture. However, a police complaint was filed by both the victims and police have also started their investigation.
