‘There is a need to protect traditiol treatments by Khasis’

SHILLONG, Dec 18: The Chairman of the Khasi Traditiol Medicine Commission (KTDMC) Banteidor  Lyngdoh who is also the Executive Member  in the  People Democratic Front (PDF) said that soon the office of the KTDMC will be opened in the premise of the KHADC.  Lyngdoh informed that the purpose of having the commission is to protect the traditiol treatment practice by the Khasis as they are inherited since time of memorial. “The District Council wants to protect and at the same time this traditiol healer should be legally recognized,” he said. So far there are more than fifteen applications have been received by the commission from the traditiol healer, in which the commission will soon sit and take the fil decision to give them the recognition after carefully examining their application. In the Khasi region there are many traditiol healers who are expert in their own way of giving treatment.
